Jennifer's June Journal
Dear Trendease Community,
A big warm welcome to you and the new issue of Trendease! An inspiring month has just passed, and now we look forward to future inspirations, while acknowledging and exploring the current influencers.
This June, we bring you a diverse smorgasbord of designs and trend directions. Le Cuir à Paris, literally just sent out the trend sneak peak moments ago; you simply cannot find such information elsewhere as immediate as that! In Istanbul, Evteks was boasting what the Turkish textile market has to offer to the world, and Lobster Concepts of Amsterdam put together a trend forum titled Rhythm, which you will find a review of here within. Turkey got slammed by Chinese competitors when the market opened up, but is now facing a new advantage with its location, since many western clients are now concerned with their carbon footprints and transportation costs.
Pantone just opened the doors to its hotel in Brussels, and while a fun concept, personally I don’t want to be thinking about work when heading to bed, so being surrounded by The Pantone Universe may not bring me the sweetest of dreams, but I certainly wouldn’t mind sipping on a Pink Champagne Pantone 12-1107 while lounging on the rooftop overlooking the heart of the city, at sunset—of course!
The team and I also found design enlightenment while learning about the creative talent in Georgia, the country, not the state. You can find out more about them in this month’s Designer Spotlight.
For my part, I was impressed when I first learned about Vertrazzo, our new EcoChic feature, through a post somebody put on my FaceBook wall, commenting more about the use of Skyy vodka bottles than the company itself. But inquisitive minds want to know, and hopefully you, like the Trendease Team, will be moved by the president’s ambitions, and perhaps aspire to be a bit more like this green company.
