NEWSLETTER #192
04 October 2007
Dear Trendease Community,
Paris Fashion Week is bustling here in the city a la mode. Jumping on a fantasy plane, this weeks gallery transports readers to the other side of Europe, right where the West meets the East: Turkey. Within this gallery subscribers can delve through over 100 images of products ranging from the traditional to the innovative, from revolutionary home décor to fashion must-haves.
This weeks tidbits:
- Inspiration comes from the past, the present, the future, the near, the far. Trendease was impressed by the corked container, a kitchen item suited for the most modern of homes, which takes its shape from the Whirling Dervishes. This collection of vessels by Onur Sahin is available in three sizes and appropriate for all who appreciate beautiful form.
- Not only does the new label BTurk meld the 2500+ year traditions and culture of Turkey together in one swoop, it is a benchmark for the new world of blending cultures in the midst of globalization. Take the Unlimited Tolerance collection, for example, that uses the symbols of multiple empires (Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman) and the many religions it houses. BTurk has a talented manner about it in which it restyles the visual history by touching it with tomorrows esthetic values. Subscribers can also see the original merchandising for the products hanging within golden frames, looking like attainable pieces of art.
- The Bombay Sapphire Prize is the largest annual international glass award (£20,000) open to all international artists, designers, and architects who work with the medium. The award is based on excellence and innovation on the use of glass. Submissions are being reviewed now and can be entered until the closing date of October 31, 2007.
