Worldwide — Are we losing ourselves in technology? This is a question that begs reflection when reviewing the features within this edition of Trendease. While technology definitely has its positive impacts, it must also be policed for its potential to really suck us in and redefine our very essence. Learn about how this can influence the design of products within.

TWENTY2DEGREES - GUESTROOM

Social FlexAbility

London — At the Sleep & Eat event this year in Olympia London, where we were a month earlier for Decorex, and a month before that for 100% Design, six design firms created four guest room sets alongside two restaurant and bar sets, with the challenge to provide flexible spaces where users activate the social experience of their choice under the theme “Social FexAbility”.

Kicking off with Maximum Glam

Frankfurt — “Progressive theme setting, unprecedented design concepts and spectacular showcases: this is what the Heimtextil Trends stand for,” proclaims Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt. In this avant-première, here is one of the five trend directions, including color story, to be presented at Heimtextil 2020: Maximum Glam.

Pure Spiritual: The Counterbalance

Frankfurt — A preview of what is to come in Frankfurt next January, Maximum Glam, Pure Spiritual, Active Urban, Heritage Lux, and Multi-Local, presented by the International Trend Council and staged by stijlinstituut amsterdam, this is the second of the five sub-themes to the umbrella topic ‘Where I Belong’: Pure Spiritual.

Active Urban for the Design-Savvy Youth

Frankfurt — “An urban environment, prioritizing performance and utility, informs functional, versatile and adaptable interiors. Active Urban is geared towards younger, design-driven consumers living an active, city lifestyle.” Learn about this Heimtextil 20/21 trend before the event next year, including a description, key buzzwords, and color inspirations.

Embracing Heritage Lux

Frankfurt — Nostalgia is something we grasp onto in these times, but there is a twist for the upcoming seasons. Discover more about this period drama here in the fourth direction of Where I Belong where inspirational images, a palette of colors, key directions, and insights help prepare you of what is to come in the following years.

Identifying as Multi-Local

Frankfurt — “Today, the process of identification seems to be more complicated than ever. Identities are now formed through experiences that take place simultaneously, on different levels. Locally, nationally, globally, both online and offline. Identity therefore can consist of many different layers. In fact, we all have multi-layered identities,” elucidates stijlinstituut Amsterdam, curators of the Heimtextil 20/21 Trend Space.
