Frankfurt — The dominating design direction for textiles goes deeper than aesthetics across the industry, not just at Heimtextil. This may be frustrating for people not to have a pictorial display of trends handed to them on a silver platter. This year, and beyond, we need to take time to stop and learn more about what we are looking at, because it is what is behind the scenes that is going to drive us to a better tomorrow for our own well-being and that of the planet.

Trend: Plant-Based

Frankfurt — Discover plant-based textiles, sourced from soil-grown materials, separated into two groups. The first uses robust crops like cacti, hemp, abaca, and seaweed, providing sustainable solutions. The second involves by-products from banana, olive, persimmon, and hemp production. Plant-based textiles offer a sustainable benefit, being natural and more conducive to recirculation.
