Worldwide — September 2013 — There is an undeniable shift in buying where quality is trumping quantity and the modern buyer opts for authentic and exclusive products over mass produced goods. Sustainability is also a matter of growing importance. As an industry that thrives on newness, we have a challenge here. Less is more, but what does it mean for the bottom line? During this visit to Tendence it was clearly a smaller show and new introductions were fewer than in the past. Thankfully, this did not stop us from uncovering some gems.

Nostalgia at Tendence

Frankfurt — September 2005 — A rich, baroque, and eclectic atmosphere sums up the “Nostalgia” trends show organized by German designer Helga Janzon at the latest edition of Tendence Lifestyle in Frankfurt. The displays were a showcase for some of the finest products on offer at the tradeshow, selected from a broad range of international suppliers focused on high-end furnishings.

It's All Child’s Play

Worldwide — September 2016 — Every now and again it is fun just to let loose and to laugh a little. Children are the perfect excuse to let your silly side show. While walking the trade floor at Tendence this week, we could not help but crack a smile, chuckle even, at some of the items we uncovered. Frankfurt — September 2016 — September is a gigantic month for European trade shows. Our fall exhibition season started with Tendence. This was formerly the sister show to February’s Ambiente, but now has its own separate management team, although the two shows within Messe Frankfurt’s portfolio still plan to synergize activities. Like many trade shows, Tendence is adapting to an evolving market and is aiming to make the necessary changes to keep business fresh and meaningful. Read more here…

Holiday Displays: Starred & Stacked

Frankfurt — September 2016 — The ‘Window dressing live’ area at Tendence acts as an inspiration to the retail buyers and merchandisers demonstrating to trade visitors how they can update their shop windows and display areas in the coming seasons. There were four main areas. The Trendease Team calls this one Starred & Stacked.

Holiday Window Shopping

Frankfurt — September 2015 — It is that time of year again. The end of summer. At this inaugural trade show period, some retail buyers who may not have completed their selection for the A/W 2015-16 season start to hustle around, making the final purchases to put the cherry on top of their holiday offering. It is also a moment to check out Hall 9.2 at Messe Frankfurt’s Tendence to see the window dressing inspirations that have been merchandised to give visitors some kindling to start their creative fire.

Trend Shopping for Holidays & Beyond

Frankfurt — October 2014 — Coming from a visit to Tendence earlier in September in Frankfurt, Germany are some of the up-to-the-minute “living and giving” trends. Pastel shades remain strong and warm metallic like copper and brass glisten. Christmas has a folklore twist and the skull trend takes on a new direction (thank goodness!). Animal motifs and patterns have their place in the home and technological advances continue to make an impact.

The Influence of Window Dressing

Window dressing is growing momentum as a communication tool and a method for distinguishing stores from other retailers. An emotional and visual appeal to customers signifies a significant chance for the bricks-and-mortar shops. At Tendence expert Karin Wahl shared some tricks of the trade.
