Features and Articles
Jennifer's June JournalNew York — In this issue of Trendease you will find numerous visual and mental stimulations in terms of market directions. Ombrés, Native American inspirations, unique floral applications, warm metallic touches, cozy furniture, responsible design, and embracing a long line of heritage are all topics covered this June. Peruse a selection from the Textile/Surface Design degree at FIT here. |
Fade into MeWorldwide — Color gradation. According to the book ‘Textile Designs: Two Hundred Years of European and American Patterns Organized by Motif, Style, Color, Layout, and Period’, block print was used to achieve the look in the 1800s, but this was very time consuming and costly; due to this complexity and expense, ombré designs died down in popularity after the mid-nineteenth century. Times have changed. |
From the Grand Canyon to Paris with LoveMultiple European Cities — The discovery of a world full of culture, environmental respect, harmony, and spiritual enlightenment is just a glimpse of what Native Americans personify. From the United States to France and Germany, these people have inspired a new collection of interiors celebrating cultural richness in a contemporary manner. |
Florals Full of SurpriseWorldwide — Florals are the most sold print in the world. We see them day in and day out, but what makes a floral design special and stand out from the crowd? Here are some very different examples from the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York and Clerkenwell Design Week in London, just two places where designs full of surprise caught the eyes of the Trendease Team. |
The Golden TouchWorldwide — Thankfully with these products, King Midas never laid a finger on them. They are not gold through and through, rather, they only contain a touch of golden shine to add to any style interior. In these products we see innovation and skill. We will keep King Midas at bay, maybe feed him a hamburger, while you enjoy this selection of images from our travels. |
Ahead of the CurveMultiple European Cities — So, you want to stay ahead of the curve? Upholstered chairs, and in some cases even furniture, have curve appeal. While we may be entering summer in the Norther Hemisphere this month, in the South winter begins. A perfect time for cozy furnishings; ones that hug you. Arced towards the form of the body, these pieces scouted from around the globe bow inwards to create a welcome, warm space. |
2.6 Trillion Pounds of TrashLos Angeles — While attending the Dwell on Design show, the Trendease Team was fascinated by the booth of an organization aptly called “Made Out of WHAT?!” And why wouldn’t we be? From the slogan “Let’s talk trash” which hung on one of the walls of their booth, to the interesting products inside, this stand was attracting attendees in large numbers. |
Heritage RevisitedMilan — One of the best things about exploring design in Milan is also exploring the immaculate buildings hosting the inspirational objects. Nothing can solidify a company’s luxurious product quite like a space within the Palazzo Litta, a palace in central Milan on Corso Magenta. Glistening chandeliers, gold leaf door and window trimmings with detailing, frescoed ceilings and inlaid marble floors, ahh the history can practically enter you through osmosis here. |
NEWSLETTER #610 - Street Art InspirationsMultiple Portuguese Cities — Come, learn about adventures in Portugal and get to see some very inspiring tiles and Portuguese designs. Here we start with some street art. Commissions, beautifying derelict buildings, and even covering electric utility boxes, the streets of Portugal are ripe with rousing street art. Subscribers can take the journey themselves. |
NEWSLETTER #611 - Ulla Color in 2019/2020Brussels — We have been busy checking out winter previews and autumn launches. SCP has some intriguing additions to their collections and MoOD is offering up a sneak peek to its 2019/2020 trend inspirations to be presented later this year, September in Belgium.
