Features and Articles

Jennifer's September Scribbles

Glasgow — This immersive exhibition showcased bold wallpapers and textiles in a unique manner, reflecting a signature blend of whimsy and edge with both traditional and contemporary materials. Guests also engaged directly with the designers, gaining hands-on experience in traditional printmaking. It blurred the lines between art, design, and experience.

Happiness in a Bottle

Copenhagen — During a recent trip to Copenhagen the Trendease Team found happiness in a bottle. This project consists of a collection of small, thought-provoking vessels shaped like iconic medical vials. Each piece carries a label highlighting one of 300+ issues that influence human well-being. The purpose is to inspire reflection and encourage people to nurture their mental, relational, and physical well-being.

Under the Microscope

London — While scouting new talent during this summer’s graduation shows, the Trendease Team noted a growing number of research projects in the field of biomaterials—some speculative, some as real as it gets. Here the study of bio-textiles explores how the unpredictability of nature and living systems can inspire new kinds of responsive materials, rethinking how we connect with nature, people, and textiles.

Wooden Waved Wonders

Fjellhamar — Common yellow birch is redefined, celebrating its strength, color, and overlooked beauty. Through lamination and carving, organic silhouettes emerge, inspired by roots and branches. Paired with clean, simple surfaces, this incredibly unique collection balances sculptural drama with refined utility, elevating humble timber through thoughtful experimentation and skilled craftsmanship.

Craft as Connection

Multiple European Cities — Together, these works reveal the quiet power of knotted textiles. Whether through an upcycled chair that feels like an embrace or a performance that grows through shared making, knots become symbols of connection. They remind us that strength emerges not from isolation but from intertwining — from threads, from people, from cultures woven together.

A New Wave of Seating Design

Multiple British Cities — This new wave of seating design blends heritage, identity, material exploration, and play. From dual swings fostering connection, to stools questioning cultural visibility, to chairs merging Gothic grandeur with modern lines, each piece reimagines furniture as more than functional—an expressive tool for storytelling, community, and embodied experience.

A Royal Celebration of Design and Legacy

London — Celebrating 35 years of The King’s Foundation, the Sanderson x Highgrove collection brings the beauty of His Majesty’s cherished gardens into design. Drawing on Sanderson’s historic archive, the wallpapers and fabrics reimagine botanical motifs with timeless craftsmanship, reflecting a shared commitment to heritage, sustainability, and the enduring dialogue between nature and design.

Glass Gets Blobular

Multiple European Cities — These glass-focused studios highlight a shared blobular aesthetic in contemporary design. From sculptural lighting to orb-like fixtures and layered vessels, each practice merges craftsmanship with innovation, transforming glass into poetic, functional forms. The result is a celebration of artistry and utility, where timeless elegance meets everyday purpose.
